Arctic Apocolypse

So my first post, everyone always tells me to do this blog thing and i do love to chatter on and on about whatever is on my mind so perhaps coming out of my introverted shell would be a good idea after all. Something tells me this first post will be more robotic then i usually write, but give it a post or two and i should lighten up.

So we'll start it off with an extended write up on an Apocalypse game i played in this weekend.

First we'll talk about the basic premise (read "story") that was the purpose of the game as well as pre game.

We played on the 16th, which was the day of the New nid codex. Initially it was planned to arrive earlier so we would have a week or so to read through it, as this didn't happen we ended up using the German codex leaked online instead. Which was actually more entertaining then you think trying to decipher what "Shatten Iem Warp" or some such was. Of course i knew it was shadow in the warp, but its more fun to believe the creatures special rules were "Synpase Creature, Psyker, and Shitter in the Warp". Thanks to Googles translator we werent nearly as blind about the changes, and so we agreed to go ahead with the new Codex for the nids.

So Teams.....
Team Bug
4 Nid Players
vs
Team Viktim
Me (ImpGuard/Daemonhunters)
Kris (Relictors/Space Wolves)
Matt (ChaosMarines/Daemons)
Sam (Space Marines)

Sam couldnt play so it was us 3 for a month.

Finnaly we got word that Matt's brother would play, no idea of army.

A week before the game Matt and his Brother couldnt play anymore, but Sam was in again and his freind Ryan could come as well.

So Team Viktim was officially renamed:
Team Turnover

Me (ImpGuard/Daemonhunters)
Kris (Relictors/Space Wolves)
Ryan (ImpGuard)
Sam (Space Marines)

Near the beginning i hastened to get our team talking (remember the part where i like the talk so i should start a blog?) Kris was on it with me and we exchanged a lot of tactical talk pre game, Matt contributed some as well. We never once heard from his brother, and Sam and Ryan scare sly had time to contribute once back on board. So needless to say our team was in shambles tactically. I did my best to get everyone pointed in the direction i thought we needed to be in, but no one voted me king so in the end i always tried to suggest what i thought but support whatever they came up with because its really about us all having fun not me dictating their lists to victory. I'll get into the "tactics" we talked about in the next post.

So in a way Team Vikitim was a standard Tyranid assault viktim....... The Shadow in the warp had come and our Astropaths were having trouble getting word to our allies, while the Hivemind stayed the constant and planned its attack without interruption. So in the end we were a mess and it just got worse....

Nice... I like how you parlayed it into the 40k universe. And I'm glad to see you started blogging. Scratch one New Year's Resolution off my list!
